Nottingham beware, there's a new sheriff in town, and he's gunning for the current Premier League leader, Luke Humphries.

Reigning World Darts Champion Luke Littler is now just two points adrift of 'Cool Hand', and will toe the oche in the Midlands desperate to maintain his hot run of form, having won his last 14 matches across three different competitions.

The Warrington star, who is favourite for another five-point haul on Thursday night, reigned supreme at the UK Open in Minehead earlier this month before following that up with another title-winning run in Wieze at the weekend to successfully defend his Belgian Darts Open crown.

Those two triumphs sandwiched a five-point haul in the Premier League in Brighton last week as he elevated himself to within touching distance of his great adversary.

It comes as no surprise to see 'The Nuke' installed at the top of the betting on the back of his explosive recent run of form, although what makes this week's round of fixtures even more compelling is the fact that he will face-off against Humphries - who is a huge 4/1 to notch a third win of the term - in the quarter-finals.

Between them, the pair have won four of the five stagings of this year's event, with Gerwyn Price the only other player to have managed a nightly success.

Just a solitary point separates Nathan Aspinall, Michael van Gerwen and Price in the standings, and the fact that all three are in the bottom half of the draw, away from the two Lukes, provides them with an opportunity to defy their potentially overinflated prices.
