6/5 favourites Manchester City remain the most popular selection for the 2024/25 Premier League title, though there's been a surge in bets backing Arsenal to win their first crown since 2004.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “I’d say that the ante post markets this season have been the toughest we’ve ever had to price.
“Manchester City have once again been the best backed team in the outright market but there’s been a slight drop off from 48.9% of bets last pre-season to 44.6% this term, despite recording four on the bounce.
“Ordinarily we’d have priced them around the 4/7 mark for five titles in a row but with all the uncertainty surrounding them off the pitch, we currently have the Citizens trading at 6/5 and Arsenal quoted at 15/8. Support has almost doubled for the Gunners from 16.9% in 2023/24 to 29.9%.
“Our biggest headscratcher was the relegation market with points deductions becoming more frequent and there’s no bigger story than the ongoing saga at the Etihad.
“We decided on an opening show of 33/1, more hunch than science, and the fact that Manchester City take out 13.2% of the relegation market right now is telling, so much so that they’re now into 16/1 as we all wait for news.”
Manchester City edged Arsenal by two points to become the first club to win four consecutive Premier League titles and the upcoming campaign promises to deliver another titanic battle for glory.
Just under 45% of bets placed on the outright market favour Manchester City to win a fifth successive crown. Arsenal are also well-supported, with 29.9% fancying Mikel Arteta's outfit to prevail this term.
9.5% of punters believe Arne Slot's arrival at Liverpool will yield a Premier League title, while just over 6% are backing Manchester United to finish top of the pile for the first time since 2013.
