Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Goncalo Ramos saw Portugal overturn a one goal deficit to beat Croatia 2-1 in the World Cup Round of 16.
An uneventful first half in Toronto was followed by an all-action second 45, and it was Croatia's Ivan Perisic who opened the scoring in the 53rd minute.
Zlatko Dalic's side came out of the blocks flying in the seconf half -- with half time substitute making an instant impact -- and Josip Stanisic's deep cross found Perisic, who emphatically fired home on his left foot.
Portugal thought they had found the perfect respond in the 61st minute through Cristiano Ronaldo, but his expertly taken goal was ruled out for offside.
The 41-year-old did get his moment just minutes later, with the referee -- aided by VAR -- pointing to the spot for a foul by Nikola Vlasic on Renato Veiga.
Ronaldo stepped up from 12 yards -- as he has done on so many occasions -- and scored, personifying composure as he slotted it down the middle.
Ronaldo was replaced in the 81st minute, but in his absence fellow centre forward Goncalo Ramos was on hand to deliver, leaping higher than anyone to emphatically head home past Livakovic.
Late drama saw Josko Gvardiol's equaliser ruled out for offside in the 104th minute of the game, an almighty blow for Croatia who thought that they had done enough to take the remarkable contest to extra time.
Ramos' stoppage time winner was ultimately enough to see Portugal through to the World Cup Round of 32, where they will face European champions Spain.
