It was a disappointing start to life as Plymouth Argyle manager for Wayne Rooney at the weekend and his attention now turns to the potential banana skin of an EFL Cup first round tie against Cheltenham Town on Wednesday evening.
Plymouth produced a poor performance in their opening game of the 2024/25 Championship season as they were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
In contrast, Cheltenham will be in buoyant mood after Joel Colwill's 96th minute winner earned Michael Flynn's side a 3-2 victory against Newport County in their League Two curtain-raiser.

Plymouth are unbeaten in six of their last seven games against Cheltenham, winning five and drawing one. with the latter resulting in a penalty shootout victory for Plymouth in the EFL Trophy in the 2022/23 season.
Cheltenham's last win at Home Park came in League Two back in September 2019 when goals from Luke Varney and Ryan Broom earned the Robins a 2-0 victory.
Wednesday's match will be the first ever EFL Cup meeting between the two sides.

Wayne Rooney was unhappy with his team in the humbling at Sheffield Wednesday and he is likely to shuffle his pack ahead of the weekend.
Ryan Hardie is expected to start up front, while defender Kornel Szucs is set for his Plymouth debut.
League Two is clearly the priority for Michael Flynn but he will want to keep the momentum going from the weekend and there are likely to be fewer changes in his team.
There are no new injury concerns for Cheltenham and Matty Taylor, Ethon Archer and Tom Pett will be hoping to feature from the start.
