Players with the most combined appearances for Real Madrid and Barcelona since 1990

El Classico in Spain is one of the most famous derbies in world football, a number of players have crossed the the divide to appear for both Real Madrid and Barcelona over the years and we take a look at those with the most combined appearances since 1990.

Gheorghe Hagi - 100

Romanian midfielder Gheorghe Hagi, otherwise known as 'The Maradona of the Carpathians', clocked up 100 combined appearances for Real Madrid and Barcelona during the 1990's, winning a Spanish Supercopa at each club.

Hagi is considered among the greatest Romanian footballers of all time and went on to win the UEFA Cup with Galatasaray after leaving Barcelona.

Alfonso Perez - 109

Former Spanish footballer Alfonso graduated through Real Madrid's La Fabrica youth academy and went on to represent Los Blancos 88 times in the early 1990's, clocking up 13 La Liga goals in the process.

Following a standout spell with Real Betis, Alfonso moved to Barcelona in 2000 but moved on two years later after managing just 21 appearances in two seasons.

Nando - 112

Another player to represent Real Madrid and Barcelona in the early 90's was Spanish international centre back Nando.

The former Sevilla graduate won two La Liga titles and a European Cup at Barcelona before joining Real Madrid, where he captured his third La Liga title at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Albert Celades - 128

A product of the La Masia youth system, Albert Celades made 72 appearances for Barcelona from 1995-99 before leaving to join Celta Vigo.

Celades joined his hometown club's great rivals just one year later and spent five years in Madrid where he won the UEFA Champions League in 2001.

Javier Saviola - 140

Javier Saviola burst onto the scene of world football as a teenager at River Plate and was picked up by Barcelona at the age of 19 for £15m, a hefty fee in 2001.

The Argentine star enjoyed a breakout season at the Nou Camp but couldn't replicate his success in following seasons, he joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2007 but never established himself in the Spanish capital.

Samuel Eto'o - 147

Cameroonian star Samuel Eto'o is widely considered one of the greatest African footballers of all time, however early in his career he struggled to break through at Real Madid.

Eto'o moved to the Bernabeu in 1997 as a youngster but made just three appearances for Los Blancos before being shipped out on a series of loans across Spain.

After a promising spell at Mallorca, Eto'o was picked up by Barcelona where he made his name as one of the best strikers of his generation, winning three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies between 2004 and 2009.

Ronaldo - 164

Fourth on the list is former Brazilian star and two-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo who made 164 appearances for both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Undoubtedly one of the greatest football players of all time, Ronaldo moved to Barcelona in 1996 and enjoyed a standout season in La Liga, where he scored 34 goals in 37 matches.

Contractual issues led to the Brazilian joining Inter Milan after just one season at the Nou Camp, but Ronaldo wasn't done with Spain yet.

He joined Real Madrid in 2002 as an integral part of the 'Galacticos', alongside the likes of David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane. Ronaldo spent five years at the Santiago Bernabeu, winning a La Liga title in 2003.

Michael Laudrup - 228

Former Danish star clocked up 228 appearances for Real Madrid and Barcelona across a glittering career that saw him win the European Cup in 1992.

Laudrup and his brother Brian emerged playing in his homeland for Brondby before earning a move to Lazio in the early 80's, eventually joining Barcelona under the stewardship of Johan Cruyff.

He won four consecutive La Liga titles at the Nou Camp before controversially joining Real Madrid in 1994, where he would record 62 appearances in two seasons before moving to Japanese side Vissel Kobe in 1996.

Luis Figo - 336

Easily the most controversial transfer on this list, Luis Figo was a star player for both Barcelona and Real Madrid across ten years from 1995-2005.

Figo is remembered as one of the greatest players of his generation and won the Balon d'Or in 2000 while representing Real Madrid.

He joined Barcelona in 1995 and enjoyed a successful spell, winning two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey twice and the UEFA Super Cup.

The Portuguese winger then made the highly contentious move to the Spanish capital for a world record €62m fee in 2000, as part of the 'Galacticos' era Figo won two La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid in 2002.

Luis Enrique - 364

The player with the most combined appearances for Real Madrid and Barcelona is former Spanish footballer Luis Enrique, who amassed 364 appearances for the bitter rivals between 1991 and 2004.

Enrique joined Real Madrid after impressing at his home club Sporting Gijon and went on to made 157 appearances at the the Santiago Bernabeu, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

He later joined Barcelona on a free transfer where he would establish himself as a fans favourite in Catalonia, becoming club captain winning two La Liga titles and the Copa del Rey trophy twice.
