Rory McIlroy is bidding to become just the fourth player in history to win the US Masters in consecutive years.
The 2025 US Masters saw McIlroy achieve sporting immortality as he beat Justin Rose in a play-off to win at Augusta for the first time and complete the career Grand Slam.
McIlroy has a share of the lead after 54 holes this time around and a second US Masters would rubber stamp his place amongst the very best to have ever played the game.
Such a feat is extremely rare and while there have been plenty of players who have won at Augusta on more than one occasion, there are only three who have gone back-to-back.
Jack Nicklaus was the first player to successfully defend the US Masters when he secured the Green Jacket in 1965 and 1966.
England's Nick Faldo then achieved the feat in 1989 and 1990, before winning for a third time in 1996.
The third player to win in back-to-back years was Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2022.
