Players to reach Test centuries before lunch

A Test century before lunch is a rare and spectacular accomplishment.

Only six players have achieved the feat on the first day of a Test match, while 18 others have scored 100 runs before lunch on other days.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, only one player in Test match history has reached his century before lunch in more than one match: Brian Lara.

The legendary batter raced to 100 runs on the second day of the West Indies' second Test against Zimbabwe in 2003 before repeating the achievement three years later against Pakistan in Multan.

Eight English players have scored a Test hundred before lunch, including Ian Bell, Ben Stokes and most recently in 2023, Ben Duckett.
