Argentina players Enzo Fernandez and Leandro Paredes have become the sixth and seventh players to be sent off in a World Cup final.
Chelsea midfielder Fernandez was shown a second yellow card for a reckless challenge in the 93rd minute of the 2026 World Cup final defeat to Spain.
Fernandez was the third Argentinian player to be sent off in a World Cup final, before Paredes was also shown a red card at the end of extra-time for violent conduct.
Argentina also had two players dismissed when they lost 1-0 to West Germany in the 1990 final, with Pedro Monzón and Gustavo Dezotti both receiving their marching orders.
France have also had two players sent off in World Cup finals.
The first of those was defender Marcel Desailly in the 1998 final as France beat Brazil.
Zinedine Zidane was the hero on that occasion with two goals but he ended as the villain eight years later following a headbutt on Italy defender Marco Materazzi.
The other player to be shown a red card in a World Cup final is former Netherlands defender John Heitinga, who was dismissed against Spain in 2010.
