Luke Littler has been installed as the favourite to add the Players Championship Finals title to his fast-growing honours list as attentions turn towards the Butlin's, Minehead, event.

'The Nuke' averaged almost 106 as he landed the coveted Grand Slam of Darts crown last weekend, and he is unsurprisingly at the top of the betting this time around.

He will be wary of the threat of defending titlist Luke Humphries however, with the world number one, and reigning World Darts Champion, vowing to produce a much improved performance after being surprisingly dumped out of the Grand Slam at the group stages.

Despite Michael van Gerwen's recent struggles, the Dutchman boasts incredible pedigree in this event, lifting the title on seven occasions - more than any other player on the planet.

MVG, who last tasted success at the Players Championship Finals two years ago, has struggled for form in recent months, but will hope to peak at just the right time with the Alexandra Palace spectacular on the horizon.

Gary Anderson, who reached the semi-finals in Wolverhampton at the weekend, Peter Wright and Daryl Gurney are the only other three players in the field to have won the event, and will all be hoping to replicate their prior winning form in Somerset.

Outsiders to look out for include Dutch ace Wessel Nijman, who averaged a remarkable 105 despite losing all three of his Grand Slam group encounters by the odd leg, as well as a rejuvenated Gerwyn Price.
