Aidan O'Brien's two-year-old is already considered to be a leading contender for next year's 2000 Guineas and he could move into favouritism if he prevails in Ireland this weekend.
After finishing fourth in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, Ryan Moore guided Whistlejacket to success in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket and he looks the one to beat on Saturday.
He will face five rivals in the Phoenix Stakes, with the Juddmonte-owned Babouche arguably the biggest threat after winning over course and distance last month.
Another challenger could prove to be another O'Brien horse in the shape of Heavens Gate, who will make a quick reappearance after an impressive victory at Naas on Monday.
