THE PLAYERS Championship is held at The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Boosted from the other Signature Events, the purse for THE PLAYERS Championship is $25,000,000, while the winner will receive $4,500,000.
Greg Norman's -24 score of 264 shots from 1994 is the tournament record, while Hideki Matsuyama, Roberto Castro (twice), Martin Kaymer, Fred Couples and Norman have all shot nine-under-par rounds of 63.
Jack Nicklaus holds the record for the most PLAYERS Championship wins with three, ahead of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Fred Couples, Steve Elkington, Hal Sutton, Davis Love III and Tiger Woods.
Rory McIlroy won the 2025 PLAYERS Championship, beating JJ Spaun in a play-off. McIlroy came from four shots back to start the final round, opening birdie-eagle before taking a three-shot lead over Spaun.
Spaun responded with birdies on 14 and 16 to join McIlroy on -12, leaving a long birdie putt on the 72nd hole just short of the cup to force a play-off.
Spaun found water on the second play-off hole on the island 17th, with McIlroy making par on the final hole to win.
