Peter Wright is one of the most decorated players in darting history and the Scotsman continues to compete at the top despite his advancing years.
'Snakebite' is a two-time world champion but he is also a multiple major winner having lifted the UK Open, World Matchplay, European Championship and the Masters.
Wright, in total, has won 48 titles during his glittering career and that sum includes 14 TV titles, eight of which are considered to be majors.
After years of waiting, the 54-year-old won his first World Championship title in 2020, defeating Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the final, and then he regained his title in 2022 with 7-5 victory over Michael Smith.
He most recently captured the 2024 German Darts Championship crown; a triumph that came almost a year on from his 2023 European Championship success, which was also in Germany.
Peter Wright has been around the block and is vastly experienced, but it took until 2017 for him to make a proper breakthrough on the PDC Tour when he won the UK Open, brushing aside Gerwyn Price 11-5 in the final.
'Snakebite' had finished runner-up to Michael van Gerwen in each of the two years prior to getting off the mark and he was also beaten by MVG in the World Championship final in 2014.
Of the 21 major finals he has made, he has lifted the trophy on eight occasions and he has hit one televised nine-dart finish, which came at the 2020 Premier League Darts.
Peter Wright is currently ranked number 12 on the PDC’s two-year Order of Merit.
It's far away from the number one spot he held at the peak of his powers, and it seems a long shot that we see 'Snakebite' officially ranked back within the sport's elite any time soon.
Known as 'Snakebite', Peter Wright's nickname is not a reference to the mixed drink of cider and lager. - it's actually from his love for snakes.
Speaking after his first World Championship triumph in 2020, Wright said: "I just like snakes. I'm a bit like a snake - I'm a quiet person who likes to be left alone, and if If you keep poking me, I'll bite you."
