Paul Warne named new MK Dons boss

Former Rotherham and Derby County boss Paul Warne is the new man in the MK Dons hot seat following the sacking of Scott Lindsey in March.

Fancied to be towards the head of affairs in League Two this season, it has not gone to plan for MK Dons in 2024/25.

Expectations were high under Mike Williamson but he took the Carlisle United job just six games into the new season.

Scott Lindsey's appointment did little to turn the tide and a particularly tough stretch of results where the Dons won one match in nine led to the 52-year-old's dismissal.

Fans of the club can now look forward to the remainder of the campaign and next season with Warne in charge.

Formerly of Rotherham and Derby County, Warne boasts an impressive EFL CV, winning promotion on four separate occasions as a manager.

He enjoyed the majority of his success at Rotherham, achieving a trio of promotions with the Millers.

A move to Derby County followed and after narrowly missing out on the play-offs in his first season, he made no mistake the second time round, guiding his side to the Championship after finishing runner-up in League One.

After a tough period in England's second-tier, Warne was relieved of his duties in early February with the Rams having lost seven straight matches.

Embarking on a fresh challenge, Warne appeared reinvigorated as he looks to climb the Football League ladder with his new club.

"I'm over the moon to be joining MK Dons with Richard at such a pivotal moment in the club's history," Warne told the official MK Dons website.

"The potential of the team under the ownership of Fahad (Al Ghanim, chairman) and the board is truly limitless, and I'm extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to manage the side over the coming years.

"This is an amazing project, and we're so excited to drive it forward."
