2024 marks the first year Paris will host the Paralympics, with the games to be brought to a start by a spectacular opening ceremony.
Over 4,000 Paralympic athletes from 184 countries are set to take part in the 11-day event.
As the excitement builds for the Paralympics, we take a look at everything you need to know about its opening ceremony in the French capital.
The Paralympics Opening Ceremony will begin at 19:00 BST on Wednesday 28th August 2024.
In a similar fashion to the Olympics in Paris, the opening ceremony will not take place in a stadium as is tradition but instead showcase the city's streets.
The procession will begin at Paris' Champs-Elysees and finish at the Place de la Concorde.
The Paralympics opening ceremony will be available to watch live on the UK on Channel 4, with coverage of the event scheduled to begin at 18:30 BST.
It is expected that 65,000 people will watch the ceremony live in Paris.
With the same artistic director as the Olympics in Paris, Thomas Jolly, the Paralympics opening ceremony is certain to be an aesthetically pleasing and uplifting event.
Jolly said the ceremony will seek to "showcase the Paralympic athletes and the values that they embody".
The Paralympics opening ceremony is reported to involve a lot of dancing, with individuals with a range of disabilities taking part.
