Take a look at the latest odds for Paraguay v Australia on Thursday night.
Kicking off in the early hours of Friday morning UK time, Australia and Paraguay know they'll both almost certainly go through with a draw, currently priced up at 5/4.
Australia are second in the group with a goal difference of zero while Paraguay are third with a goal difference of -2. But with both sides beating Turkey, they're assured of finishing no worse than third.
Three points will likely be enough to send some teams through depending on their goal difference, but both can secure a passage into the round of 32 with a draw.
Of course, there is some added incentive to win for both sides. The runner-up of the group would face the runner-up of Group G, where Belgium are currently toiling in third place. The Red Devils may still finish as runners-up if they beat New Zealand and Egypt beat Iran, but third place in Group D will likely face a tie with Germany, France or Portugal.
The tie might not play out with both sides content with a draw, but the circumstances are certainly reminiscent of the infamous 'Disgrace of Gijon' from the 1982 World Cup.
With Algeria beating Chile 3-2 a day earlier, West Germany and Austria knew both would progress should the former win 1-0. Indeed, Horst Hrubesch's 10th-minute goal brought about a listless affair with virtually no effort from either side to score, prompting a change to the tournament going forward, whereby final group games would be played simultaneously.
However, with goal difference no longer being the primary separator between teams, Turkey are already eliminated, with both Australia and Paraguay's fate in their own hands.
