NRL: Panthers ace welcomes star return

Sean O’Sullivan says he is excited for the return of Nathan Cleary even if it means he will lose his place in the Penrith side.

The Panthers are priced at 3/1 to win the NRL grand final once again and are boosted by the news that Cleary is ready to make his return after missing the opening three rounds.

Taking no risks

Cleary underwent a shoulder reconstruction in the off-season and the Panthers opted to keep him out for the first three games to ensure that he is fully recovered.

In his absence O’Sullivan did a great job playing in the halves but now knows he will have to drop to the bench and play a different role.

O’Sullivan has no issue with that and is just looking forward to contributing in any way he can as the Panthers push for more Glory.

“I’m stoked, and even though it means that my role will change now I knew that when I first signed here,” O’Sullivan told “Nath’s confident and ready to go. Taking the three extra weeks will hold him in good stead for this weekend’s game.

“It was the main reason I did, to learn off Nathan and Jarome. I was so thankful to get a few games with the calibre of team we have.”

Play anywhere

O’Sullivan is now ready to answer the call from coach Ivan Cleary and play whatever role is required from him.

“I wouldn’t say no to anything, I’ll do anything for Ivan and the boys,” O'Sullivan said.

“I’ll help prepare the boys as best I can, whether that’s running Souths’ shapes at training this week then I’ll do that, it’s a pretty standard thing across the whole of the NRL now.”
