The Martin Brassil-trained Panda Boy has been priced up at 10/1 to prevail in the 2024 Grand National on Saturday afternoon.
Panda Boy is one of the four grey horses in the Grand National who will be looking to replicate Neptune Collonges' feat back in 2012.
JJ Slevin will be on board the eight-year-old at Aintree as he bids to become only the third jockey ever to win the Irish and English Grand National races in the same year.
His sensational ride on Intense Raffles at Fairyhouse now presents him with the tantalising prospect of securing a double with Panda Boy this weekend.
Panda Boy ended last season with a respectable fifth-placed finish in the Irish National, with fellow Aintree contender I Am Maximus prevailing on that occasion.
This campaign saw a tentative return in a pair of Grade 3s at Punchestown and Naas, but his last two outings have propelled the horse into the reckoning to take the honours in the Grand National.
The introduction of cheekpieces seems to have helped and he produced a fine display to finish second to Meetingofthewaters in a high-quality handicap chase, before finishing fourth and just two lengths behind the winner in a top handcap hurdle at Leopardstown last time out.
Both of those races were over three miles and the ground was on the softer side, which suggests that conditions at Aintree shouldn't be an issue and he should relish the ultimate endurance test.
