We analyse the credentials and statistics of Padraig McCrory and Leonard Carrillo as the two get set to face off in a light-heavyweight bout.
After shooting for the stars against Edgar Berlanga in February, Padraig McCrory must restart his world title ambitions on 1st November.
At 36 years old, the clock is ticking on McCrory’s career and a defeat at home in Belfast to Leonard Carrillo could signal the end for ‘The Hammer’.
Will the Northern Irishman defy father time or will the relatively unknown Colombian spring an upset?
Let’s look at the 'Tale of the Tape'...

McCrory could have gone on to a mega-fight against Canelo Alvarez and earn millions had he beat Edgar Berlanga nine months ago. The likeable Belfast boxer, however, found out how cruel boxing can be when stepping up to world level.
The disappointment of the sixth round loss to Berlanga, a fight which McCrory did as well as he could, will hopefully have been shrugged off given the importance of Friday night’s fight.
His opponent carries a 94 per cent knockout ratio and with McCrory’s love for a tear-up there could be some hairy moments in the main event at The SSE Arena.
McCrory’s likeability factor, his openness over his speech stammer and desire to help others with an impediment means the venue will be giving everything to get him over the line.
However, will he box smart and get himself a points win or do the old habits come out to ensure a thriller? It’s a high stakes, crossroads fight for McCrory and one he must win.

Backers of Leonard Carrillo may want to keep an eye on Thursday’s weigh-in for his fight against Padraig McCrory.
The Spanish-based Colombian is yet to fight at light-heavyweight (175lbs) and in the early days of his career he fought as low as super-welterweight (154lbs) and has made his way through to super-middleweight (168lbs).
Carrillo is also known not to travel well when he fights outside of Colombia with three of his five losses coming in Europe.
There is no doubt, however, that the 35-year-old can punch. However, there is evidence in his eight-round points loss to Alexander Rigas in July 2022 that Carrillo thinks he is better than he actually is and sometimes his concentration could do with being more on the task in front of him.
16 of his 17 wins ending no later than the seventh round makes him a dangerous opponent regardless of his opposition.
However, whenever he has stepped up his level of competition he has been found wanting, as shown in his fourth-round knockout loss to Pavel Silyagin 18 months ago where Carrillo had already been dropped twice in the fight.
A win against McCrory, however, will put him back in line for another step up, but if the Irishman stamps his authority on the contest this Friday night he could take the belief out of Carrillo within the first half of the fight and record a crucial victory.
