Arriving at Manchester City at the start of of the 2020/2021 season, Ruben Dias immediately slotted into City's defence, winning the Premier League in his first campaign and reaching the UEFA Champions League final.

Joao Cancelo

Arguably the world's best full-back at the time, Joao Cancelo cemented his place in Manchester City's side after moving the previous summer, helping Pep Guardiola's side to the Premier League title and UEFA Champions League final.

N'Golo Kante

Though his powers may have been declining as injuries increasingly took their toll on N'Golo Kante, the French midfielder was still outstanding whenever he did play, leading Chelsea to the UEFA Champions League.

Jorginho

Alongside the industrious Kante in Chelsea's midfield was the midfield metronome in Jorginho. The Italian won the UEFA Champions League and won Euro 2020.

Kevin De Bruyne

Although the season ended in UEFA Champions League final heartbreak for Kevin De Bruyne, the Belgian was superb domestically. Despite starting just 23 games, De Bruyne racked up 18 goal contributions.

Lionel Messi

Making his final appearance for Barcelona, the 2020/2021 season saw Lionel Messi score 30 La Liga goals before embarking on a move to Paris in the summer.

Robert Lewandowski

The 2020/2021 campaign saw Robert Lewandowski at the peak of his powers for Bayern Munich, winning another Bundesliga title and scoring a record-breaking 41 goals.

Kylian Mbappe

Although Kylian Mbappe's PSG came second in Ligue 1 in 2021, the Frenchman was still at his best with 27 goals in 27 starts.
