We analyse the credentials and statistics of Oscar Collazo and Thammanoon Niyomtrong as the two get set to contest a hugely-anticipated minimumweight unification world title bout as part of Riyadh Season's 'Latino Night' card this weekend.
Boxing’s lighter weight classes can be an acquired taste, but what the little men lack in power, they more than make up for with relentless action.
Two of the best fighters you’ve likely never heard of face off this coming Saturday (16th November), as WBO champion Oscar Collazo battles WBA king Thammanoon Niyomtrong in a minimumweight world title unification.
Whilst the eyes of the watching world will likely be on Jake Paul v Mike Tyson, Katie Taylor v Amanda Serrano 2 and Gilberto Ramirez v Chris Billam-Smith, believe me, this is one that you don't want to miss.
The big question is who will prevail?
Before we find out the answer, it's time to look at the 'Tale of the Tape'.

When discussing the pound-for-pound top 10, Oscar Collazo’s name rarely features in the discussion, but it should.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, ‘El Pupilo’ moved to Puerto Rico aged eight. Six years later, he entered a boxing gym and has not looked back since.
After a decorated amateur career, he turned professional in 2020 and in the intervening four years, he has achieved a lot in just 10 fights.
In his fifth bout, he faced, former WBO 105lbs champion, Vic Saludar. The Filipino was vastly more experienced, but he was no match for the young phenom, as Collazo survived a knockdown to win a wide decision.
Two fights later, the America-born Puerto Rican became champion of the world as he stopped Melvin Jerusalem, to pick up the WBO strap.
It is a victory that has aged well, as Jerusalem has subsequently captured the WBC belt.
Collazo has made three successful defences but was hurt in the opening frame of his most recent defence, against Gerardo Zapata, but recovered to win handily.
While the odds may be wide, Niyomtrong is a classy operator who has upset the odds before and Collazo cannot afford to be reckless.

Boxing’s longest reigning current champion and the longest reigning minimumweight in history, Thammanoon Niyomtrong has achieved a lot since he first won the WBA ‘Super’ belt, back in 2016.
‘Knockout CP Freshmart’ has faced, and defeated, some of the best 105lbs fighters on the planet over the last eight years, but the biggest fights have eluded him, until now.
The 34-year-old is a master technician who has never received the credit he deserves, but all that could change with victory over Oscar Collazo.
Despite being a wide underdog, the Thai boxer will not be concerned, he was in a similar bout when he made his most recent defence, against Alex Winwood.
The Australian was perceived to be the next big thing in the division, but Niyomtrong boxed beautifully to prevail by spilt-decision.
Can the man from Surin repeat the trick?
Time will tell.

Controls distance well | Overreaches at times |
