Netherlands women are the overwhelming 1/33 favourites to capture Olympic gold in the hockey competition as they look ahead to Friday evening's showpiece final against China.

The Dutch thrashed Argentina 3-0 in their semi-final to secure a sixth successive appearance in the Olympic final, whilst China edged past Belgium 3-2 in a tense and dramatic shootout.

Luna Noa Fokke, Laura Nunnink and Yibbi Jansen were all on target for the Netherlands as they kept their hopes of another Olympic gold medal firmly intact, although 9/1 shots China will be desperate to spring one of the biggest surprises of the Paris Games.

China have beaten Japan, France, Australia and Belgium en-route to the final, but were beaten 3-0 by the Netherlands in the group stages.

They can be backed at 16/1 to avenge that defeat in normal time on Friday evening, with a price of 9/1 available for the encounter to end in a stalemate and go all the way to a shootout.

But, they will have it all to do against a dominant Dutch side who have won all seven of their matches in France this summer, and look primed to add yet another gold to their tally.
