Oleksandr Usyk's trainer shuts down Tyson Fury trilogy speculation amidst ongoing Anthony Joshua saga

Oleksandr Usyk will not undertake a third fight with Tyson Fury, the Ukrainian's long-term trainer Sergey Lapin has revealed.

The Gypsy King made his latest beeline for the former two-time undisputed heavyweight champion on Monday after seeing his hopes of a long-mooted clash with Anthony Joshua dashed by the Matchroom star's reluctance to fight in the United States.

AJ and his team have argued that the contract signed by both parties earlier this year stipulates the fight, which has been pencilled in for Friday 20th November, must be staged in the United Kingdom.

However, whilst Fury is willing to fight overseas to land a more significant pay packet, Joshua, together with his promoter Eddie Hearn, are refusing to budge from their stance -- leading to the current stand-off.

Fury has posted a number of videos on social media over the past week, firing verbal assaults towards his domestic rival, and has even gone as far as to say 'the fight is off', whilst publicly calling out other opponents, including Usyk.

But, according to one of Usyk's most trusted aides, Lapin, a third dust-up between the two simply isn't going to happen.

"Usyk is not Tyson's back-up plan," he told Sky Sports on Monday evening.

If Fury needs an opponent, he should visit the Ready To Fight platform (an app launched by Usyk's team to help fighters source sparring partners, coaches and managers).

"Oleksandr is always open to big challenges, but serious intentions are backed by a concrete offer, not statements in the press."

Lapin's claims came less than 24 hours after Fury had taken to his official Instagram channel to call out Usyk as the long-running saga surrounding his showdown with Joshua rumbled on.

"This will only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk," he said after announcing the fight with AJ was off.

"Oleksandr, you're his [Joshua's] trainer and his sensei and you know he is weak minded... and that he would never fight the 'Gypsy King', which you have had the guts to do twice.

"You got the decisions last time, fair play to you. Good luck to you, let's do it again. Let's run it back in November. The ball is now in your court...

"Do you want to fight me this year, 2026, or are you calling it quits? Let me know because I am now looking for a new opponent."
