Moses Itauma is 1/2 to win a world heavyweight title from one of the four major sanctioning bodies in 2026.
Once in a generation a prospect as gifted as Moses Itauma arrives in the heavyweight division.
In the less than three years that have passed since Itauma made his first steps into the paid ranks the Slovenian-born southpaw has rapidly ascended from relative obscurity into bona fide heavyweight cotendership.
In May, Itauma overwhelmed American footballer turned boxer Mike Balogun in Glasgow, knocking the American out just 46 seconds into the second of ten scheduled rounds.
From there the Queensberry-signed KO artist has continued to go from strength to strength. In August he travelled to Saudi Arabia to face former world title challenger and perennial heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte in what was expected to be the toughest test of his burgeoning career.
Once again however, Itauma's power proved to be too much for his opponent. In less than two minutes Whyte was rendered unable to continue and Itauma's perfect start to his professional career extended to 11 knockouts from 13 fights.
The demolition job of Whyte has proven that Itauma is ready for the elite of the heavyweight division, with a shot at the world title surely within his grasp.
Itauma's holding heavyweight gold now feels more of a question of when rather than if. At just 20, it remains to be seen whether he will be put in with the likes of Oleksandr Usyk and Fabio Wardley, but it appears inevitable that his time will soon come.
