The Blues conceded just 15 goals, keeping a remarkable 25 clean sheets and conceding more than one goal on just two occasions.
While no one has ever been particularly close to breaking the record, with 22 goals conceded the next best achieved, it may well be within Arsenal's reach this season.
The Gunners, for all their defensive might under Mikel Arteta, have never conceded fewer than the 27 goals they let in last term, but they have started this term with three clean sheets in four games, with Morgan Rogers the only player to breach Arsenal's defence, and are 16/1 to break Chelsea's record.

Of course, it's worth noting that all of this has been done without the injured William Saliba, who may not return to the Gunners' starting XI until November. Jurrien Timber is now back from injury while Ezri Konsa adds yet more depth to a stacked defence.
bet365's Steve Freeth said: "It was fair to wonder how Mikel Arteta would cope without William Saliba with the Frenchman expected to be out until November, but if the first few weeks are anything to go by, the Spaniard should have no concerns at all.
"Arsenal have conceded the fewest shots (36) and the fewest shots on target (9) so far this season and are already looking extremely difficult to break down."
