Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has signed a new three-year deal at the club.
A successful four-year spell in charge of Wolves, followed by an underwhelming stint at Tottenham Hotspur, Espirito Santo arguably had a lot to prove when arriving at Nottingham Forest.
Hired midway through the 2023/24 term, Forest were firmly in the mix for relegation, and while the Portuguese manager didn’t necessarily steer them to safety convincingly, he achieved the objective of remaining in England’s top flight, recording a 17th place finish.
The 2024/25 term painted a completely different story, however. Expected to be down the lower end of the table for a third consecutive season, Espirito Santo led Forest to a seventh place finish, earning qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
The fact that some Forest fans were left disappointed by finishing in seventh place is testament to how far the club have come, and the man to thank appeared glad to have extended his deal when speaking following the announcement.
I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club.
- Nuno Espirito Santo
"Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the club, which helped us achieve great things last season."
While questions had been mooted regarding Espirito Santo’s future when owner Evangelos Marinakis emphatically stormed onto the pitch in Forest’s 2-2 draw with Leicester, he praised Nuno’s efforts at the club and reiterated the strong relationship he and the manage have.
"Nuno has made a great impact and performed very well during his time with us so far,” he said.
