Nuno Espirito Santo potential next club

West Ham and Nuno Espirito Santo look set to part ways following relegation to the Championship.

The Portuguese coach was appointed as Hammers boss back in September and was tasked with achieving Premier League survival following the dismissal of Graham Potter after a poor start to the season.

His arrival at the London Stadium came just weeks after he was relieved of his duties as manager of Nottingham Forest.

Nuno enjoyed a brilliant spell at the City Ground, getting Forest back into Europe for the first time in more than 30 years, however, disagreements with owner Evangelos Marinakis over the summer ultimately cost him his position at the club.

Now, with his West Ham future looking uncertain, we assess where his next role may come from...

Wolves

Despite leaving in 2021 in favour of a spell in charge at Tottenham Hotspur, there is a lot of admiration between Wolves fans and Nuno.

Taking over in 2017, Nuno led Wolves back to the Premier League after a six-year absence and continued his progress in the top-flight, achieving Wolves' highest Premier League finishing position when ending the campaign in seventh-place.

In doing so, Wolves qualified for the UEFA Europa League where, the following season, they reached the quarter-finals, as well as recording consecutive a seventh-place finish.

His former club joined West Ham in being relegated this season and if Rob Edwards does not get off to a good start in the second tier, then it is realistic to expect that his job might come under threat.

Should Edwards be given his marching orders, I'm sure that Nuno would make the shortlist of potential candidates.

Southampton

Tonda Eckert looks certain to depart St Mary's following the 'Spygate' scandal that has dominated the back pages over recent weeks.

The German coach did excellently to guide Southampton to the playoff semi-finals but the club was adjudged to have gained an unfair advantage on their rivals after members of Eckert's backroom staff were found to be undertaking spying missions at several opposition training facilities.

With Southampton banished from the playoff final, Eckert looks likely to be dismissed.

The Saints have already proven that they have a squad capable of competing at a high level in the second tier and Nuno has proven in the past that he is able coach at the top end of the division.

Sevilla

Stints in Spain as both a player and as a manager mean that Nuno is well acquainted with the football over there and he could soon be tasked with rebuilding one if its biggest clubs.

Los Hispalenses have been circling the drain of La Liga relegation for a few years now and are in desperate need of a steady hand in the dugout.

Veteran manager Luis Garcia is currently the man in charge, however, he was recently thrown his future in doubt, stating he is not certain that he will still be in position when next season rolls around.
