The NRL finals are on the horizon, and all is to play for. Can the Penrith Panthers secure their fourth title in a row, or will we see new champions crowned for the first time since 2020?
We've got the latest NRL Grand Final outright odds, as the minor season draws to a close over the coming weeks and the finalists prepare for a run at glory.
Penrith Panthers have been installed as favourites for this year's Grand Final, and it's easy to see why. Ivan Cleary's side have won the last three titles and even made the final before that, the only hurdle in their way this season appears to be injury concerns.
Star gun halfback Nathan Cleary has only managed eight games so far this season. If they can get him back to fitness over the coming weeks, as well as welcoming back James Fisher-Harris and Dylan Edwards from injury, then it's hard to see them being beaten.
Second in the market are Melbourne Storm, another historic NRL side who are back, flying high at the top of the ladder. Storm have been in nine of the last 20 Grand Finals and are showing no signs of slowing down in their quest for another, Craig Bellamy has instilled a ruthless streak into his squad.
They will need their ageing players legs' to withstand the challenge of a finals run, but the likes of Tui Kamikamica and Nelson Asofa-Solomona have been all the way before and no doubt have the drive to do it again.
At the same price as the Storm, Sydney Roosters will be looking for a deep finals run. They are by far the best attacking side in the league, with over 80 points scored more than the second highest performing team, Trent Robinson has built a clinical attacking side.
However, the balance is slightly off, the defence is exploitable, they shipped 34 points to the Dolphins who could yet miss out on the finals, and despite the fact they won that game, the better sides will see it as a weakness.
The Canterbury Bulldogs, Cronulla Sharks and Manly Sea Eagles are all in contention and shouldn't be ignored, the Sharks and Bulldogs rely on tight defences and are statistically two of the toughest sides to break down this season. While the Sea Eagles have two of the leagues biggest stars, if Tom Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans are firing, then they are capable of beating any team in the competition.
All three sides lack finals pedigree however, either struggling to make it there every season, or failing to make a mark when they do qualify. Teams like the Panthers and Storm are likely to handle the pressure cooker environment of a final much better with their experience.
