Losing emphatically 4-0 over two legs in the Championship play-off semi-finals to Leeds United at the end of last season, Norwich City have moved to replace outgoing manager David Wagner with Dane Johannes Hoff Thorup.
35-year-old Thorup arrives in East Anglia from Danish top flight side FC Nordsjaelland on a three-year contract, and will likely be tasked with attempting to guide Norwich back to the Premier League.
Previously acting as the club's assistant manager, Thorup took the reins at Nordsjaelland in January of last year, and helped steer the team to second in the Danish Superliga table to seal a place in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
In his first full season in charge he led Nordsjaelland to the Europa Conference League group stages and fourth place in the Superliga.
Having now spent the past two seasons in the Championship after finishing bottom of the Premier League in 2021/22, the Canaries bosses will likely be desperate to make it third time lucky in the new season and seal promotion back to the top flight.
Norwich have finished sixth and 13th in the past two Championship campaigns, and a significant improvement in fortunes will need to be actioned by Thorup if they are to mount a more credible promotion challenge in 2024/25.
