Northampton Saints are joint-favourites to defend the Premiership Rugby title they won after a rollercoaster 25-21 final victory over Bath at Twickenham back in June.
Despite struggling to get over the line against a battling 14-man Bath before scrum-half Alex Mitchell scored the decisive try with seven minutes left to secure a first title in 10 years, Northampton had spent the majority of the season at the top of the table and were the best team in the country over the whole 2023/24 campaign.
It was a glorious send off for club legends Courtney Lawes and Lewis Ludlam as they move on to pastures new, so Director of Rugby Phil Dowson will be hoping the young talent at his disposal can fill the void and ensure the Saints are challenging for the title yet again.
Only three clubs have managed to successfully defend their trophy in 27 years of Premiership Rugby history, so the Saints will have their work cut out and will be expecting to face a tough challenge from the likes of Saracens, Bath, Sale Sharks and Exeter Chiefs.
