Has a non-league side ever beaten Premier League opposition in the FA Cup?

The Silkmen have become just the third team in history to achieve this.

Luton Town travelled to Norwich City in January of the 2012/13 season hoping to become the first non-league club to knock out top-flight opposition in the FA Cup since Sutton United eliminated Coventry City in 1989.

The Hatters added their name to the history books as Scott Rendell’s 80th minute strike was one of only two shots on target for the non-league side, but was enough to seal a famous victory.

Lincoln City became the first non-league side in 103 years to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals after winning 1-0 at Premier League side Burnley in February 2017.

The Imps had defender Sean Raggett to thank as his 89th minute winner helped his side continue their famous journey.

  • Norwich City 0-1 Luton Town - January 2013

  • Burnley 0-1 Lincoln City - February 2017

  • Macclesfield 2-1 Crystal Palace - January 2026
