Rob Tebbutt provides his best bets as Nick Ball gets set to make the latest defence of his WBA featherweight title against Ireland's former super-bantamweight title-holder TJ Doheny this weekend.
Nick Ball faces TJ Doheny in Liverpool on Saturday night in a defence of Ball’s WBA featherweight title.
The Queensberry man is one of Britain’s best active boxers, and will look to put himself in the shop window for a potential bout with pound-for-pound star Naoya Inoue with a statement victory over Ireland’s Doheny - himself a former Inoue foe.
This is a fight that is set up to showcase Ball and one I think he’ll look good in.
Doheny is a wily, experienced fighter but is up in weight and has seen better years.
Ball will have to be wary of leaping in as Doheny has good timing and respectable punching power, but I feel the physicality and heavy-handedness of Ball will pay dividends down the stretch.
