There’s a battle of the bottom two in the NFC East in the early hours of Monday morning, as the Washington Commanders host the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles are in freefall in the NFL at present and head to Northwest Stadium on the back of a five-game losing streak.
Injuries have certainly not been kind to Philadelphia, with star quarterback Jalen Hurts set to miss the rest of the season due to blood clot issues.
Head coach Nick Sirianni is coming under increasing pressure following his side’s 38-21 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys but there was enough in that performance to suggest that the Eagles can cause Washington, who have their own injury concerns, issues in this clash in Maryland.
Best Bet - Philadelphia Eagles +6.5 handicap @ 100/111
Alternative Bet - Saquon Barkley anytime touchdown @ 27/20
Bet Builder - Makai Lemon & Stefon Diggs anytime touchdowns @ 21/2
Best Bet: Philadelphia Eagles +6.5 handicap @ 100/111
These rivals have already crossed paths in the opening game this season, with the Eagles edging a 24-22 win at Lincoln Financial Field.
All was rosy in South Philadelphia after that match and there were few indications the Eagles’ season would fall apart as dramatically as it has.
Countless injuries and questions over the offensive line and play calling have haunted the Eagles in the last few weeks.
Back-up quarterback Tanner McKee has been tasked with leading the offence in Hurts’ absence and it was always going to take him time to settle into the starting role.
With some of the Eagles offensive weapons coming back from injury, McKee has the tools to hurt this Washington side, who are also pretty banged up at this stage of the season.
While a victory for the Eagles might prove too much of an ask at Northwest Stadium, the +6.5 handicap in favour of the visitors catches the eye.
Alternative Bet: Saquon Barkley anytime touchdown @ 27/20
Still working his way back to full fitness from his hamstring issue, there were some more promising signs from running back Saquon Barkley against the Cowboys last time out.
The problems in the offensive line have not helped Barkley’s cause this season but he did manage to bag his first touchdown of the season against Dallas.
Given just seven carries in that game, expect to see more of Barkley at Northwest Stadium and the former New York Giant offers good value in the anytime touchdown market.
Makai Lemon anytime touchdown
Stefon Diggs anytime touchdown
Pays 21/2
Sticking with the anytime touchdown market for this two-fold Bet Builder, look to Makai Lemon and Stefon Diggs to score on Monday.
Rookie wide receiver Lemon is being relied on more and more due to the Eagles’ injury situation and he scored his first NFL touchdown against the Cowboys.
Lemon is fancied to score again on Monday, while Commanders star Diggs has four touchdowns to his name this season and can add another to the growing collection against the Eagles.
