The Washington Commanders finished the NFL regular season with five wins in a row en route to a 12-5 record.

They will take that form into this Wild Card round clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and with both teams’ quarterbacks impressing this season, a high-scoring matchup looks likely.

The Bucs left it late to confirm their playoff spot, coming from behind in the fourth quarter to beat the New Orleans Saints and secure the NFC South title.

They will need to improve on that performance if they are to have a say in this postseason, although they will take confidence from their 37-20 win over the Commanders earlier this season.

Washington have failed to go beyond the Wild Card round since 2005 so will be hoping to snap that streak here.

Jayden Daniels over 1.5 passing touchdowns - 10/13

Jayden Daniels was taken with the second overall pick by the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL Draft and since then has done nothing but impress.

He has led the Commanders to their best regular season record since 1991 and is favourite for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award after passing for 3,568 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

He has also rushed for 891 yards and six touchdowns, proving his dual-threat nature as a quarterback has transferred successfully to the NFL.

He has been remarkably consistent in recent weeks as the Commanders have embarked on their winning run to end the regular season.

Daniels did not feature heavily in the final game of the campaign against the Dallas Cowboys but, before that, the former Heisman Trophy winner had five games in a row with either 24 or 25 completions and multiple touchdowns in all of those outings.

In fact before the Cowboys game, the 24-year-old had thrown for 15 touchdowns in five games and he should be able to record another multi-touchdown game against a Buccaneers secondary with plenty of injury issues. 

Bryce Hall, Christian Izien, Troy Hill and Jordan Whitehead are all likely to miss out, while Antoine Winfield Jr., Mike Edwards and Troy Hill are questionable.

Daniels looks likely to take advantage of a makeshift Tampa Bay secondary and can continue his impressive rookie campaign.

Bucky Irving over 86.5 rushing yards - 5/6

The Washington Commanders have struggled to stop the run all season, only the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints allowed more yards per carry than their total of 4.8, and they face a tough challenge against Bucky Irivng, who has caught the eye all season for the Bucs. 

He rushed for 1,122 yards in the regular season, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. That is a total that only Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley and Jahmyr Gibbs can better so he is in esteemed company.
