NFL Best Regular Season Record Odds

Kansas City Chiefs are the favourites to post the best regular season record in the 2024/25 NFL season.

Last year it was the Baltimore Ravens who assembled the best regular season record, with Jon Harbaugh's team going 13-4 before suffering defeat in the AFC Championship match against Kansas City.

As the Ravens proved last year, the best regular season record doesn't necessarily translate to success at the end of the campaign.

In 2021, the Green Bay Packers went 14-3 but failed to advance beyond the Divisional round and the year before that, Kansas City Chiefs boasted the best record by going 14-2 before suffering defeat in the championship match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Only one team in NFL history has achieved the perfect season and that's the Miami Dolphins, who accomplished the feat in 1972.

Overseen by Don Shula, the Dolphins won all 14 of their regular season matches before defeating Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Redskins to be crowned champions.

Many have tried to repeat the achievement since and all have failed. That the regular season now consists of 17 matches makes the task increasingly difficult.

Though the 1972 Dolphins are the only team to win every match in an entire campaign, there are three teams that have achieved a perfect regular season record: 1934 Chicago Bears, 1942 Chicago Bears and the 2007 New England Patriots.

Interestingly, all three of those teams would lose in the championship match; the Patriots went 16-0 with Tom Brady at quarterback before suffering a 17-14 defeat to the New York Giants in the NFL's showpiece.

The Carolina Panthers were the latest team to go close to achieving an unbeaten regular season record, going 15-1 in 2015.
