Having fallen short in 2023, the San Francisco 49ers will look to lay down a marker when they host the New York Jets in their opening game of the 2024 NFL season.
Rodgers' move to the New York Jets was one of the biggest stories in the NFL last season, but the quarterback suffered an Achilles injury in the first game that ruled him out for the whole of the year.
Now, the former Green Bay Packers gunslinger is under centre and hoping to kickstart a new era of Jets football in New York.
Under 43.5 points - 10/11
The 49ers came within touching distance of winning it all last season, and they will have to pick themselves up and go again this time around as they take on the Jets in their opening game of the season.
However, they will have to overcome the fact that the Super Bowl losers tend to have a poor record in Week 1 of the following season, going 5-19 against the spread.
There are also question marks about the fitness of their dynamic star Christian McCaffrey, who is struggling with Achilles and calf issues and was listed as questionable by his team for this clash with the Jets.
On his day, McCaffrey is one of the most explosive players in the league, and even if his game participation is limited, that is a significant blow to the San Francisco offence.
Against a New York Jets team with an elite pass defence, they ranked second in the league last year with just 168.3 yards allowed per game, the 49ers' plan is likely to revolve around running the ball more.
Defence was never the issue for the Jets last season, as they consistently rank in the top ten across the league in defensive metrics. After Rodgers' injury, however, their quarterbacks recorded the lowest passer rating of any team in the NFL at 70.5.
Rodgers is back, but at 40 years old and coming off the back of missing almost the entire season last term, it's hard to trust him to replicate the form he produced in Green Bay.
The veteran faces a tough challenge, too, against a San Francisco defence that ranked third in points allowed last year with just 17.5 per game.
There are enough question marks about both teams' ability to unlock good defences, so side with under 43 points in this game as the unders has landed in nine of the 49ers' last ten Week 1 matches.
Aaron Rodgers under 236.5 passing yards - 10/11
Rodgers is attempting something that very few quarterbacks have ever managed in the NFL, and that is to play on successfully beyond the age of 40.
The likely future Hall of Famer missed all of preseason and has not played a full game in almost 20 months.
During his time with the Packers, he was known for his ability to roll out of the pocket and make throws on the run, but as a 40-year-old coming off the back of a torn Achilles, that athleticism may have departed him.
Against a solid San Francisco defence, Rodgers is fancied to go under his passing yards as ring rust and his age may get the better of him.
Breece Hall anytime touchdown scorer - 11/10
With the New York Jets unlikely to overburden Rodgers on his first game in 364 days, expect running back Hall to see plenty of the ball.
The 23-year-old had five rushing and four receiving touchdowns last season in a poor Jets offence, and the youngster could well improve on that in his third year in the league.
Hall is undoubtedly the Jets' primary running back and looks good value to open his account for the new season.
