Denver Broncos v Cleveland Browns: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Denver Broncos are looking to boost their claim for a wildcard spot in the AFC playoffs when they round off Week 13 in the NFL with a home game against Cleveland Browns in Colorado on Monday night.

The Broncos (7-5) are only third in the AFC West, behind the 11-1 Kansas City Chiefs and the 8-4 Los Angeles Chargers, but they would currently make the postseason action as the AFC's seventh seed.

Sean Payton's team have won their last two games against the Atlanta Falcons and the Las Vegas Raiders, with rookie quarterback Bo Nix continuing to impress, but they are 0-2 against AFC North teams after defeats by the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

The Browns are playing mostly for pride after a poor start to the season, but an impressive home win in the snow over the Steelers in Week 12 lifted them to 3-8 and showed they can still compete against top teams.

The Broncos have a strong head-to-head record in this fixture, winning 25 of the teams' 32 meetings, and that includes 13 of the last 15 and victories by 29-12 and 24-19 in the Browns' last two visits to Colorado.

Denver Broncos v Cleveland Browns prop bets - tips and predictions

Nick Chubb anytime touchdown scorer - 5/4

One bright spot in a miserable 2024 season for the Browns has been the return to action of running back Nick Chubb.

The elite runner suffered a serious knee injury in a primetime game against the Steelers last season and rounded off his recovery appropriately with the winning touchdown against the same team in the Thursday night game of Week 12.

Chubb returned to action in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals and has gradually stepped up his workload. He scored twice in the Steelers game and now has three since his comeback.

He had 20 carries last week and looks sure to be a primary option whenever the Browns are near the end zone.

Devaughn Vele over 35.5 receiving yards - 10/13

A key storyline in this match-up is the return of Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy to Denver, having spent the first four seasons of his career with the Broncos.

Jeudy has begun to find his feet in recent weeks, but Denver may not regret the trade too much as they have a number of promising young receivers for Nix to seek out.

Courtland Sutton is the main man in Denver, but rookie Devaughn Vele has grown into the WR2 role and could exceed a modest receiving yards line against the Browns.

The seventh-round draft pick has had 39, 66 and 80 receiving yards in his last three games and had six catches from nine targets last week, showing his enhanced role in the offence.

Denver Broncos v Cleveland Browns over/under pick - Under 42.0 points - 10/11

The Browns' performance against the Steelers makes them dangerous underdogs getting a big handicap start, but they have regularly underperformed on their trips to the West Coast and are hard to trust.

Kevin Stefanski's team were in much better shape and had won five of their previous six games when heading to Denver last season, but they lost by 17 points and followed up with a 36-19 loss to the Rams in Los Angeles the following week.

This year, they are 1-4 on the road with their only success coming against fellow strugglers the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Backing a low-scoring game is preferred to a handicap bet, though, as both teams' strength lies in their defences.

The Broncos rank second in the league in conceding only 16.8 points per game this season and while the Browns have had costly breakdowns at times, they have the potential to make life tough for Nix with Miles Garrett leading their pass-rush, fresh from three sacks against the Steelers.

The Browns play a lot of man coverage, while Nix has done his best work facing zone coverage and points could be hard to come by.
