Cleveland Browns v Miami Dolphins: Prediction, Tips and Odds

The Cleveland Browns host the Miami Dolphins in Week 17 in their final home game of the 2024 NFL season at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland on Sunday.

The Miami Dolphins' improvement looks to have come too late in the season for them to salvage a place in the playoffs but they can still end the year with a winning record if they win their final two games.

The Dolphins head to Cleveland at 7-8 but that represents a solid recovery after they stood at 2-6 after Week 9. Their campaign looked to have been scuppered by the concussion to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa that saw him spending a month on injured reserve as his replacements, Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley, proved well short of the required standard.

The Florida side have gone on a solid run since, but their last four wins have all come at home and they often fail to show the same spark in road games.

The Browns have no major incentive to win other than pride and the fact that it is their final home game of the season as they are on course for a top-five pick in the draft and if they lose their last two they will be in line to add an elite college player to their roster.

Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson struggled a little in his first start of the season against the Bengals last week, although his play was affected by a hit he took on a running play early in the game.

The final score of 24-6 was also not totally representative of the fight the Browns showed as running back D'Onta Foreman was judged to have fumbled right at the goal line on an impressive first drive, and the Bengals added a TD in the final two minutes to puff up the final score.

Both teams have been hit hard by injuries this year but enough talented players remain to put on a decent game, even though rain is expected.

Cleveland Browns v Miami Dolphins prop bets - tips and predictions

Elijah Moore over 25.5 receiving yards - 10/11

Thompson-Robinson impressed more with his legs than his arm in his start against the Bengals, rushing for 49 yards and passing for 157 while throwing two interceptions, and he will again be working with a depleted group of wide receivers.

Tight end David Njoku led the way last week with eight catches for 66 yards, but he is ruled out this time and back-up Jordan Akins is unlikely to get anywhere near as many targets.

Wide receiver Elijah Moore is likely to pick up extra work behind Jerry Jeudy and although he had only two catches for 21 yards last week (one yard more than WR1 Jeudy) he can be expected to have at least 26 yards against the Dolphins.

The former Jet is only three games removed from a 111-yard night against the Broncos, and while the pass-happy Jameis Winston was QB at that time, Moore is one of the few senior options remaining for his young quarterback.

Chop Robinson to record a sack - 10/11

The Browns offensive line have had a mixed season, to put it generously, and they allowed Thompson-Robinson to be sacked five times by the Bengals last week.

The Dolphins have a fast-rising rookie pass-rusher in Chop Robinson and he will be looking to show his moves to Browns star Myles Garrett on the opposite sideline.

Robinson, Miami's first-round draft pick this year, has six sacks to his name in his first NFL season and four of them have come in the last five games. After registering one of his team's three sacks against the 49ers last week, he has a great opportunity to add to his tally.

Cleveland Browns v Miami Dolphins total points - Over 35.5 points - 10/11

With poor weather expected and the Browns having scored only six points last week, the total points line for this game is extremely low and taking the over could pay off.

The Browns' last two games have generated only 28 and 30 points, but their previous six had all gone over the line for this game including their game in Denver which produced 73 points, while they managed a 43-point match at home to Pittsburgh even when the field was covered in snow for the second half.

The Dolphins have helped to score at least 36 points in eight of their last nine games even though their star wide receiver duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have both been bothered by injuries.
