AFC champions Kansas City Chiefs take on the NFC champions Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday's NFL Championship in a rematch of their 2023 showdown, and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been installed as favourite to land the MVP award for a fourth time.
The very fact that the last three NFL Championship Games have been determined by just three points suggests this weekend's showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles could be equally as tight.
Let's not forget, the last time these sides locked-horns in Championship decider two years ago, it was the Chiefs - ushered by the sensational signal caller Patrick Mahomes - who edged a tense and dramatic encounter, 38-35.
The stakes are even higher this time around as the Chiefs look to further cement their legacy in the game by becoming the first team in NFL history to achieve a three-peat.
Mahomes has been the MVP in all three of his NFL Championship triumphs to date and, truth be told, it's difficult to envisage a world where the Texan isn't bestowed that honour for a fourth time in New Orleans should Kansas go on to make it three in succession.
There are others in red who could boast a narrative case for the MVP award if they were to produce a massive performance at the Superdome, including tight end Travis Kelce, who, like Mahomes, is seeking a fourth Championship ring.
Don't write off the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend though, for they are heading into their second Championship game in three years in better form and with even greater confidence than the first.
The dynamic backfield duo of Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts rightly feature high in the betting and both will have their backers as they seek to help the Eagles avenge their agonising defeat at the hands of the Chiefs in 2023.
Landing the coveted MVP award would be the crown jewel of a truly remarkable debut season in Philly for Barkley, with the star running back having been wrecking havoc in the NFL since ending his six year spell with the New York Giants last year.
The New York native was recently bestowed the honour of being named the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year, and he will back himself to produce one last ace from up his sleeve as he bids to build upon his three touchdowns in the Eagles' dominant NFC title triumph over the Washington Commanders.
