Danny Rohl is the favourite to become the next manager of Southampton following Ivan Juric's decision to leave the club.

Juric stepped down from his managerial role in the aftermath of Southampton's 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, a result that consigned the Saints to relegation from the Premier League.

The Croatian, who only filled the St Mary's hotseat in December 2024, presided over a wretched run of one win from 14 matches which saw Southampton fall through the trap door with seven games remaining.

bet365's Sports and Trading expert Steve Freeth said: "Danny Rohl's reaction post match against Hull said a lot and he's a young manager that's going to be in demand.

"He's worked at Southampton before and will surely be high on their list of coaches to replace Ivan Juric - if not at the very top."

Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl was a leading contender to succeed Juric's predecessor, Russell Martin, when Southampton were seeking a new manager in December but no move came to fruition.

The German took over at Hillsborough in October 2023 and orchestrated their great escape before consolidating the Owls' position in the Championship, despite off-field turmoil.

Rohl previously worked at Southampton as an assistant coach under popular boss Ralph Hasenhuttl and was hailed as an influential figure on the Hampshire coast before taking on a coaching role at Bayern Munich.

Other contenders in the betting include Liam Rosenior, who's bounced back from his Hull sacking to flourish with French outfit Strasbourg, and another Ligue 1 tactician in Will Still, who's forged an impressive career across the Channel and is currently at RC Lens.

An early market mover is former Wolves boss Gary O'Neil, who's shortened dramatically from 25/1.

Despite a promising first season at Molineux, O'Neil was unable to build on those foundations in his second campaign and he was dismissed in December with the Black Country club 19th in the Premier League standings.
