Next England Manager Odds: Graham Potter and Lee Carsley favourites in betting

Graham Potter and Lee Carsley are the current favourites in our Next England Manager market as the build up to Euro 2024 continues.

Potter has been out of work since being dismissed by Chelsea in April 2023 and has been tentatively linked with a number of jobs at home and abroad.

The former Brighton boss is also one of the current favourites to be the next Manchester United manager, should the club's hierarchy opt for a change of direction in the summer.

Potter is currently 5/1 to be the next man in the Three Lions hot seat, which is the same price as current Under-21 manager Lee Carsley.

It has been widely reported that Carsley turned down the chance to become the next Republic of Manager manager last month, and he may view the England role as natural progression after winning the Under-21s European Championship last summer.

Will Gareth Southgate leave after Euro 2024?

It is expected that Gareth Southgate's reign in charge of the national team will reach its conclusion following Euro 2024.

Southgate has led his country to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of Euro 2020, where they were beaten on penalties by Italy at Wembley.

England were then beaten by France in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup, with Southgate deciding to stay on until the Euros following a period of reflection.

Despite reaching the latter stages of three tournaments, the consensus is that England have benefitted from favourable draws and when they have met the top teams, Southgate's tactical nous has not come to the fore.

Some England supporters believe that Southgate is failing to make the most of arguably the most exciting group of attacking players that the country has produced in a generation.

Failure to win this summer's European Championship, for which England are the pre-tournament favourites, will almost certainly result in Southgate's departure.

If England win Euro 2024, there is also a scenario that Southgate may decide to end his England tenure on a high.

Other candidates to be the next England manager

Could Jose Mourinho be tempted to venture into international management at this stage of his career?

The Portuguese manager has achieved everything in the club game and the 61-year-old remains a popular figure in England after spells with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Mourinho is 7/1 to be the next England manager but after leaving Roma in January, the Special One has already been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is also 7/1 to be England's next manager after working wonders on Tyneside. Howe's attacking style of play would make him popular amongst England fans and following a slight regression this season, Newcastle's owners may be tempted to look elsewhere over the summer.

Other possible candidates include Thomas Tuchel (8/1), who is leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and Steve Cooper (10/1), who knows the England set up well.
