Next Bromley Manager: Contenders to replace Andy Woodman

Bromley have sacked boss Andy Woodman after the Ravens were beaten for a fourth League One match in succession against Leicester City.

Despite guiding the club from the National League to the third-tier for the first time in the club's history, a disappointing start to the 2026/27 campaign has ultimately cost the 55-year-old his job.

Tuesday's 4-0 reverse against Leicester City has left Bromley languishing inside the relegation zone having won just two of their opening 10 League One fixtures this term.

Speculation had been rife that the Londoner's job was coming under serious threat, although it was expected that the credit he had in the bank after securing two promotions in three season would earn him time to address their fortunes.

However, it's now been confirmed that the former Northampton Town star has been dismissed, with the club now undertaking work to appoint his successor.

Next Bromley Manager Contenders

Stuart Maynard

Stuart Maynard's name has already been linked with a number of recent managerial posts, and it would come as no surprise to see him a front runner for the vacant Bromley post.

The 45-year-old oversaw York City's National League title-winning campaign in 2025/26, recording a remarkable 108 points, only to be shockingly sacked ahead of their League Two return.

The former Wealdstone and Notts County boss's stock remains exceptionally high however, and surely it is only a matter of time until he is afforded another crack at EFL management.

Mike Dodds

Blackburn Rovers assistant head coach Mike Dodds has previously claimed he would like to dip his toes back into management following a short spell in charge of Wycombe Wanderers.

The 40-year-old only lasted eight months in the Adams Park hotseat after failing to guide the Buckinghamshire club back to League One.

Five defeats in eight matches at the start of the 2025/26 campaign saw his managerial reign cut short, but he has since excelled at Ewood Park, serving as a trusted member of Tony Mowbray's backroom team.

Dodds has already been mooted as a potential successor to Woodman in the media and whilst he may lack the experience of other contenders, it's a potential appointment that could enable the highly-regarded coach to flourish in a top job.

Dean Brennan

Barnet boss Dean Brennan is pulling up plenty of trees at the Hive Stadium and would represent a shrewd capture for Bromley.

The Dubliner has led the Bees to the upper echelons of League Two this term after narrowly missing out on the play-off places last season, capturing the imagination of fans with a fluid, exciting and high-tempo style of football.

Whether making a move across London to undertake a League One relegation battle remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that his appointment would be met with a seal of approval from the club's supporters.

Luke Williams

How times have changed for Luke Williams.

Just 18 months ago the Londoner was regarded as one of the brightest coaches outside the Premier League when he was shining at Swansea City on the back of his impressive work at the County Ground and Notts County.

However, after being relinquished of his role in South Wales, Williams has since been dismissed from his latest post in Peterborough United, leaving the 45-year-old at a career crossroads.

Whilst he may need his arm-twisting somewhat to undertake the role at Hayes Lane, it would represent a real coup if the Bromley powers that be could coax him into making a move to the capital.

Matt Bloomfield

Matt Bloomfield is understood to be keen to secure a return to work following his Oxford United exit during the summer.

The former Wycombe Wanderers boss was unable to preserve the U's Championship status last season and was ultimately made to pay for that by being relinquished of his role.

He has been linked with a plethora of opportunities over the past month or so and will likely find himself high on hit list of the Bromley executives too.

Bloomfield boasts vast League One experience having played regularly at that level as a player, whilst winning three promotions from League Two during his long-association with the Chairboys.
