New Zealand great Ma'a Nonu has announced that he will depart Top 14 side Toulon at the end of the current season.
The 44 year-old, who has 103 caps for the New Zealand All Blacks and is widely regarded amongst the best players to ever play the sport, is currently in his second stint with the Top 14 club, having previously been with them for six years between 2015 and 2021.
An iconic figure who personifies New Zealand rugby, Nonu has had a stellar 24-year career, having made his professional debut back in 2002 for New Zealand side Wellington.
Over two decades after his debut, the hard-carrying, abrasive centre will depart the French top flight for a second time, with no current indication that he intends to retire from the game.
In a statement on their X (Formerly Twitter) page, Toulon said: "Thank you Gilles, Sergio, Andrea, Brian, Daniel, Giorgi and Ma'a"
"You will leave (RC Toulon) at the end of the season but you will always remain in the Red & Black Family"
Nonu, one of seven players and coaches to depart Toulon this summer, rejoined the French giants in February 2025 as medical cover and has continued to be a strong presence within their squad.
The two-time World Cup winner has shown he still has much to offer in the sport during his time back in France and could still be in line for yet another move in his illustrious career.
At 44, Nonu has already represented 10 different sides both domestically and internationally, having played for Wellington, the Hurricanes, the Blues, the Highlanders and East Coast in New Zealand, Toulon in Europe, Black Rams Tokyo in Asia and San Diego in North America.
Internationally, Nonu has added two appearances for the Barbarians to his century of All Blacks appearances.
All eyes will now turn to Ma'a Nonu's next move within rugby, with the former All Black unlikely to be short of suiters despite his age.
Ma'a Nonu's final match for Toulon will be this weekend, as they travel to face Castres on Saturday 6th June.
