Neil Robertson's odds to capture the 2025 World Snooker Championship have shortened significantly after the Australian star romped to the World Grand Prix title in Hong Kong with an emphatic whitewash victory over Stuart Bingham in the final.

'The Thunder from Down Under' was in imperious form as he raced into an 8-0 first session lead, before wrapping up victory in double quick time, securing a 10-0 triumph to land the 25th ranking title of his career and edge ahead of four-time Crucible champion Mark Selby in the all-time winner's list.

His Hong Kong triumph represented a fourth ever ranking event final whitewash, with Robertson also responsible for one of the previous three - seeing off Zhou Yuelong 9-0 in the final of the European Masters in 2020.

His success this time around carried far more significance however, given the fact that the £180,000 top prize propelled Robertson from 19th up to 11th in the world rankings - effectively rubber-stamping his seeded spot for the hugely-anticipated 2025 World Snooker Championship.

"It is very rare to win by a whitewash in a final, it certainly wasn't what I expected coming into the match today," Robertson said at his post-match press conference.

"I started brilliantly in the first four frames and after that I was able to capitalise on some mistakes from Stuart. Going into the second session I wanted to do my best to win 10-0, which I am delighted I was able to do."

The manner of his victory has seen his odds for a second Crucible crown shorten to 9/1, having been installed at 15/1 a few weeks' earlier.

Robertson became the first overseas player to reign supreme in snooker's premium competition back in 2010, and he will undoubtedly be confident of further cementing his legacy in the sport by becoming a multiple world champion in Sheffield in May.
