Everything you need to know as Indian boxing star Neeraj Goyat takes on former UFC champion Anthony Pettis on 23 January in a six-round homecoming bout promoted by Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions.
A veteran of 27 professional bouts, Goyat is one of the most decorated boxers to emerge from India, having become the first Indian boxer ever to climb into the WBC rankings.
Now, nearly five years after his last fight on home soil Goyat will headline an event in India against Pettis, a longtime MMA standout turned super welterweight boxer who holds a win over Roy Jones Jr.
Speaking following the announcement Goyat thanked MVP for bringing the fight to fruition.
"I have fought in China, in Thailand, in America and in the UK," Goyat said in a statement.
"Every time I was the Indian on somebody else's card. This time the card is ours.
"I want to thank MVP and Nakisa Bidarian for believing in me and helping bring this moment to India.
"Anthony is a real champion and I respect everything he has done, but I have waited my whole career to fight a name like this in front of my own people.
"I am not giving that night away."
