National League South Promotion Odds: Chelmsford favourites ahead of Worthing, Maidstone United and Braintree Town

FA Cup giant-killers Maidstone United are 7/2 to conclude their 2023/24 campaign with promotion from the National League South.

George Elokobi's side defeated Aveley in the play-off eliminator and will now face Worthing in the semi-finals, with the two teams separated by just a point in the regular season.

Chelmsford City will face local rivals Braintree Town in the other semi-final, with the latter securing their passage to the final four courtesy of a late extra-time winner from Tom Blackwell against Bath City.

Yeovil Town were crowned National League South champions and secured an immediate return to the fifth tier.

The play-off battle is a fascinating one, not least because the four teams were separated by just three points over the course of 46 matches.

Defeating League Two Barrow in the second round, overcoming League One Stevenage in the third round and 25/1 winners against Championship promotion-chasers Ipswich Town in the fourth round, Maidstone were the story of this year's FA Cup.

The Stones missed out on a play-off bye and were made to come from behind in their eliminator against Aveley, with Muhammadu Faal scoring the winner in stoppage time to complete the comeback.

Their opponents Worthing are 9/4 to win promotion after finishing third, which is the club's highest-ever league finish.

Even the departure of manager Adam Hinshelwood to York City hasn't restrained Worthing's promotion aspirations and the Rebels have continued their good work under interim boss Aarran Racine.

Chelmsford City, who set a club record points tally this term, are the favourites to go up at 7/4 ahead of their semi-final clash with Braintree Town.

Braintree are 7/2 to seal a return to the National League for the first time since 2019.

The winners of each semi-final tie will meet at Wembley Stadium on Monday 6th May.
