Nate Diaz to make MMA return against Mike Perry on MVP card

Nate Diaz is the latest high-profile addition to the MVP MMA card as he makes his return to the sport against Mike Perry.

The card will be headlined by Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, the two biggest pioneers in women's mixed martial arts, both making their returns after their respective nine and 17-year absences.

Francis Ngannou was also added to the card where he'll take on Brazilian Philipe Lins, with Diaz v Perry added on Monday afternoon, with the pair set to fight at at 170 pounds.

The event will take place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on 16th May, broadcast live on Netflix, and the three announced fights will all take place over five five-minute rounds.

Diaz last stepped into the Octagon in September 2022 when he beat Tony Ferguson via submission at UFC 279, though has partaken in two boxing events since. Diaz lost via unanimous decision to Jake Paul -- the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions -- in 2023, beating Jorge Masivdal in the ring a year later.

Perry left the UFC with a 14-8 record, last losing in 2021 to Daniel Rodriguez, before undertaking bare-knuckle boxing where he won all six fights, as well as stepping into the boxing ring to face off with Paul, losing by TKO. Perry's BKFC career saw him beat current and former UFC stars including Michael 'Venom' Page, Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, Thiago Alves and Jeremy Stephens.
