Rob Tebbutt provides his best bets for Friday night's bill-topping unification world title showdown between WBC and IBF title-holder Natasha Jonas and WBO and Ring Magazine champion Lauren Price.
Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price put their IBF, WBC and WBA welterweight titles on the line on Friday night, in an eagerly-anticipated all-British world title unification.
Two-weight world champion Jonas has been a stalwart of the female code in recent years, facing a host of top names across multiple divisions since turning pro in 2017.
Price on the other hand, made her debut in June 2022 and moved quickly in picking up a world title in just her seventh fight.
I think this is a bout that favours the youth and freshness of Price.
At 30, the 2022 Olympic gold medallist is some ten years younger than Jonas and while the Liverpudlian has won titles at super-welterweight, I feel Price is the naturally bigger woman.
I felt Jonas was a touch fortunate to get the rub of the green in a narrow split decision win over Mikaela Mayer in January of last year, and I fear her luck will run out against Price on Friday night.
As ever, betting the stoppage in the female code is a risk, but I do think a price of Lauren Price to win 'By KO / TKO' at 15/4 represents decent value.
She is a spiteful puncher who has the engine to box at pace for the full 20 minutes of the fight, while Jonas, at 40-years-old, has slowed late on in some of her more recent contests.
While the price for Lauren Price to prevail 'By Decision / Technical Decision' at 1/2 isn’t the most attractive, I do like the look of her to win 'By Unanimous Decision', just shy of evens at 5/6.
Jonas is experienced, crafty and knows how to get through the rounds.
