Naoya Inoue v Luis Nery Tips

Naoya Inoue - Between Rounds 5 - 8 @ 8/5
Naoya Inoue - Between Rounds 1 - 6 @ 11/8

This is a fight that we have been wanting for a long time now; since Luis Nery had those two controversial wins over Japanese legend Shinsuke Yamanaka in 2017 and 2018.

Nery was, of course, banned from fighting in Japan after those victories by the Japanese commission, but they have now lifted that ban to allow him to take on the undisputed super-bantamweight king, Naoya Inoue in Tokyo.

I think that this is going to be a real fire-fight! Nery is a proud Mexican with good power and really good fundamentals, and I expect him to try and upset Inoue in front of his own fans.

He's a bad boy fighter, he likes to get his opponents riled up, and he loves to go forward and throw those big powerful shots of his. He has heart and he will, undoubtedly, try to stick it on Inoue on Monday.

Ultimately however, I feel that the Mexican's aggressive and front-foot approach will prove to be his downfall.

Inoue is without doubt one of the finest technical operators in the sport, and whilst Nery does have qualities his own, he does, and will, leave gaps which I feel Inoue will exploit.

Almost all of Inoue's fights tend to end in explosive fashion, with a knockout, and I am expecting this one to go exactly the same way. The big question is when that stoppage will come though...

At 122lbs, the Japanese sensation has opted to bide his time, working his way into the fight with Stephen Fulton Jr, before getting him out of there in those middle rounds, before doing the same against Marlon Tapales to become the undisputed super-bantamweight champion.

We've seen Nery hurt and stopped with shots to his body in his only career defeat at the hands of Brendan Figueroa, and I can see Inoue looking to do something similar this time around too, between 'Rounds 5 - 8', which is priced up at 8/5.

For all I am saying though, there is the chance that Nery opts to come out all guns blazing, and if he does take that risk, and decide to play a really dangerous game, then we could see Inoue find that KO earlier on, inside the first six rounds, which is available at 11/8.
