NRL: Murray blow for Rabbitohs

South Sydney Rabbitohs could be without Cameron Murray for up to a month after the player was sent for scans on a neck injury.

Souths are priced at 22/1 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and Murray will be key to their chances of having a strong season.

Big setback

Murray has not been named in coach Jason Demetriou’s squad to face the Warriors this weekend, but the Rabbitohs have yet
make an official statement on the injury.

However the 24-year-old is expected to be on the sidelines for a month and means as well as the game against the Warriors in the Magic Round, he will also miss the games against the Canberra Raiders and Wests Tigers.

With Murray out of the side Cody Walker has been named as captain. Jai Arrow is also expected to fill his boots and play lock against the Warriors.

State of Origin fears

Murray will also face a big race against time to make game one of the State of Origin series against Queensland. It takes place on the 8th June and it will be touch and go for Murray.

New South Wales team-mate Brian To’o says it will be a big loss should Murray not be able to face the Maroons.

"He's obviously been one of the best Blues players, (he is) very consistent even with the Bunnies," To'o told reporters. "He always leads by example and works hard for the boys and he always puts the boys first."
