MotoGP Netherlands Prediction and Tips

It is getting tight at the top of the MotoGP World Championship with 43 points covering the top five riders after Saturday's Sprint in the Netherlands.

The last six races have been won by five different riders, while the Sprint saw Raul Fernandez take his second victory of the year in one of the shorter races.

So it is all to play for at Assen on Sunday.

MotoGP Netherlands Prediction

Best Bet: Marco Bezzecchi to win the race @ 13/8

It has been an up-and-down season for Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi, who won the first three Grand Prix races of the year but has found things a lot tougher since then.

He returned to winning ways in Italy three races ago but was one of four riders to crash out on the opening lap next time out in Hungary and picked up a one-race ban and missed the Czech Grand Prix last week.

However at Assen, the renowned Cathedral of Speed, the Aprilia bikes have dominated and Bezzecchi looks set for a strong result.

He missed out on pole position and starts only third despite being just 0.03 seconds off the pace. That still means a front-row start, though, and it is worth noting that Bezzecchi had to abandon his fastest qualifying attempt due to another rider bringing out the yellow flags.

He finished only fourth in the Sprint, but had lost ground at the start so with a cleaner opening lap he should be more competitive in the Grand Prix.

Bezzecchi did well to recover ground during the Sprint considering how tightly packed the leaders are in terms of performers and he looks the right favourite.

Alternative Bet: Fabio di Giannantonio each-way @ 9/1

If anyone is going to crash the Aprilia party it could well be Fabio di Giannantonio.

The Ducati rider has been absent from the Grand Prix podium for three races but he won the Catalan Grand Prix prior to that, which was his third top-three finish of the season.

Di Giannantonio sits third in the championship, 22 points off Bezzecchi and having finished third in the Sprint he looks a solid each-way selection.

The Italian starts sixth but was only 0.143 seconds off the pole time in qualifying. It is notable that in climbing into third in the Sprint, he overtook both Bezzecchi and the other factory Aprilia of Jorge Martin and was building a gap to them by the end of the race.
